Last night was the quarter and semi finals on TUF. The quarter final fights were James McSweeney vs. Matt Mitirone, Marcus "Big Baby" Jones vs. Darrill Schoonover. As expected McSweeney killed Mitirone, but the fight between Jones and Schoonover was the best because Jones got a KO on Schoonover! The semifinal fights were Roy Nelson vs. James McSweeney and
Brendan Schaub vs. Marcus Jones. Nelson beat McSweeney the same way he beat Kimbo, by laying his big belly on McSweeney and punching him in the head. Schaub won against Jones with a KO.
So the finals are live from Las Vegas this Saturday December 5th on Spike TV. The Match up is Brendan Schaub vs. Roy "Big Country" Nelson.

On November 21st UFC 106 was on. The two main fights were Ortiz vs. Griffin and Johnson vs. Koscheck. The fight that was most anticipated fight was Ortiz and Griffin because it was the second time the two have meet in the octagon, however this time it ended differently. The first time Ortiz won by decision, this time Griffin won by decision. In the Johnson- Koscheck fight Koscheck won by submission in the second round.
Besides UFC 106 there wasn't much else that happened in the UFC this week. The season finale of TUF is Saturday December 5th and UFC 107 is December 12th Sanchez vs. Penn.

This was a pretty exciting week for UFC fans. There was UFC 105 on Saturday, and on Wednesday there was a WEC fight and TUF was on.
Out of all these fights UFC 105: Randy "the natural" Couture vs. Brandon Vera was the most exciting. Couture despite his age, 35, was the favored winner, however Vera definitely put up a good fight. The fight went all three rounds and Couture ended up winning by unanimous decision. This to me was crap because Vera knocked Couture down a couple of times so the fact that all the judges had Couture winning every round made it seem as though the judges were a little biased toward Couture. But whatever he's old, Vera still has plenty of time left.
Another good bout on the fight card was Mick Swick vs. Dan "the outlaw" Hardy. This bout wasn't for a belt or anything but whoever won gets to fight George St. Pierre (also known as GSP) sometime in early 2010. Dan Hardy was expected to win and he did via unanimous decision.
Just to give every one an idea of what these fights are all about here's a video that kinda shows what all these fighters.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdHq0AKh_7Q
The main fight on Wednesday in the WEC was Brown vs. Aldo. Aldo beat Brown when the ref stopped the fight at 1 min 22 seconds in round 2.
Nothing really exciting happened on TUF except Kimbo might fight in the Semi- finals vs. McSweeney if this happens it will be an AWESOME fight, and Branden Schaub beat Jon Madsen.

So it was another riveting episode of TUF Wednesday night… not. There was no big fight between Rampage and Rashad, no knock out in the main fight, no major injuries, except the one to Matt Mitrione who apparently got a bad concussion during the fight he won versus Scott Junk. This could turn out to be very interesting because if Mitrione’s brain doesn’t heal then it could give Kimbo a chance to fight in the semi- finals in Mitrione’s place. Any way, overall it wasn’t that awesome of an episode.

There was one funny part though. Team Rampage tried to make Team Rashad angry by putting chickens in Rashad’s and some of his coaches’ vehicles. This plan, like the painting, backfired because Rashad and his team thought it was hilarious. Rampage was quit disappointed and said he would try again.

Last night’s semi- final’s fight between Roy Nelson and Justin Wren was not very exciting but it should have went another round. Two of the judges scored Nelson as winning the first round which I don’t think was possible, Wren almost knocked him out. However, there was no way Wren won the second round because he was gassed out at the half way point of it. With that said it may have been good that it didn’t go three rounds. Wren might have gotten knock out thus giving Nelson’s ego a chance to grow even bigger.

The worst part of TUF right now is Roy Nelson, no one likes him. The fans, coaches, and Dana White all agree that he is too cocky; if he was that good of a fighter he would still be in the UFC, but he isn’t so that is why he’s on TUF. And so far both of the fights he’s fought in on the show haven’t been great. He beat Kimbo by lying on him, and in the fight against Wren Roy just waited for him to get tired. Both of those wins were cheap, and even if Roy Nelson does win the whole competition and gets the UFC contract he’s going to be one of the most hated fighters.

Just as a reminder UFC 105 is this Saturday live at 8 p.m. it is free on Spike. And on the 21st UFC 106 is live on pay- per-view.

The battle between team Rampage and team Rashad continued on Wednesday night, on The Ultimate Fighter 10: heavyweights, with the last preliminary fight being between team Rashad’s Mike Wessel and team Rampage’s Marcus “Big Baby” Jones. This fight was a must win for Rampage due to the fact that he was down seven fights to none leading up to last night’s fight. It was also a must win because of how last week’s fight ended.

Last week’s fight between Matt Mitrione (team Rashad) and Scott Junk (team Rampage) went to decision and team Rashad ended up winning. Rampage, who has been kind of a baby throughout this whole season, stormed off completely demolishing a door while on his way to his team’s warm up/ dressing room. The door demolishing really emphasized to everyone watching that Rampage was in desperate need of a win. (And imagine if Jones wouldn’t have won the last fight. Rampage just might have tried to beat on Rashad next, instead of another door.) Anyway… last night Rampage was in need of at least one win to have a from his team move on to the quarter finals, and that fighter was Jones.

Former NFL player Jones won yesterday’s fight against Wessel (a former UFC fighter) by arm bar submission in about a minute and a half of the first round. The arm bar was so intense that many of the fighters and coaches, even UFC President Dana White, thought his shoulder was broken. Luckily Wessel got up and was able to walk away from the fight with only a bruised ego.

After the fight ended, and Rampage stopped celebrating, he, Rashad, and White got together to decide which fighters would be matched up for the quarter finals; the first fight is between Roy “Big Country” Nelson (who beat TUF favorite Kimbo Slice), and Justin Wren (both from team Rashad). The third fight is Brendan Schaub (team Rashad) vs. Jon Madsen (team Rashad). The fourth is James McSweeney (team Rashad) vs. Matt Mitrione (team Rashad), and lastly Darrill Schoonover (team Rashad) vs. Marcus Jones (team Rampage).

It’ll be interesting to watch all these fights, especially the last one because Rampage chose Jones’ opponent.

So like all UFC fans I patiently waited Saturday night through a whole fight card to get to the main event: Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. It was a highly anticipated fight, being advertised all over Spike during The Ultimate Fighter. There were posters for it at just about every Buffalo Wild Wings I walked in to in the tri- county area. And to top it off Dana White, founder of the UFC, was charging people about 65 dollars to watch it from home on pay- per- view. And after watching all five rounds I would label the bout as nothing more than a disappointment!
The first big disappointment was that Machida came in with the light heavyweight belt and much to everyone's surprise, including his own, walked away with it via unanimous decision, meaning that the three judges had Machida winning every round. This could not be possible just by looking at Machida’s ribs at the end of the fight.
Secondly, most people had Machida winning by submission or TKO in about two and an half rounds, so even the fact that Shogun went all five rounds with Machida should have earned Shogun the belt.

The last thing that made this fight, as well as most of the main bouts on the card, a big disappointment was that there was not one good knock out in the whole three hours.

The only way Dana White could make it up to us is to have a rematch between Machida and Shogun. Only this time he should put it for free on Spike!
